Tumbarumba To Rosewood Rail Trail

Transplan Pty Ltd, with Mike Halliburton Associates, has been appointed to prepare a detailed trail development plan for a section of the Wagga Wagga to Tumbarumba Rail Trail. The detailed construction blueprint will enable the Tumbarumba Shire Council to hit the ground running should the NSW government allow the development of trails on disused railways. Up until now the peculiarities of the legislation in NSW has prevented  former (government owned) railway corridors from being made available for the development of rail trails. The Rail Trails for NSW group (representing numerous potential rail trails across the state) is hopeful that legislative change is not far away, allowing rail trail projects to proceed in NSW. The Tumbarumba to Rosewood Rail Trail project could be one of the first officially sanctioned rail trails to be developed. The detailed trail development plan will provide the Council with information on fencing and gating, trail surfacing requirements, bridge upgrading and repairs, signage and trail furniture requirements, trailhead development and a range of solutions that could be implemented to ensure farming operations on adjoining properties are not hindered.
